Chelsea Geier, Intern Therapist, (she/they)

Chelsea (she/they) is completing their Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Naropa University. Her degree focuses on mindfulness-based techniques as well as transpersonal approaches to mental health healing. Chelsea is a Colorado native who grew up in Parker, Colorado. After graduating from Colorado State University, she lived in Costa Rica for a year and a half and was an ESL educator in Denver for 5 years after that.

As a former educator, Chelsea has an interest in family systems and attachment-based healing work. While there are many therapeutic approaches that Chelsea offers to clients, first and foremost is an interest in forming a healthy and trusting relationship with clients. Chelsea believes that each client presents with unique and differing needs, and as such, their approach with each client varies. No one individual is the same, and Chelsea’s therapeutic approach reflects this. Chelsea has a particular interest in trauma, addiction, anxiety and depression – using cognitive-behavioral approaches, trauma-sensitive mindfulness techniques, somatic experiencing, as well as transpersonal approaches such as Jungian psychology frames for understanding and shifting behavior.

Chelsea has a high value for equity and social justice in the mental health field because of her experience as an educator. Chelsea places high importance on unpacking social systems that have impacted an individual’s mental well-being on both conscious and unconscious levels. Chelsea believes that therapy can be an excellent tool to start making shifts to live a life more aligned with one’s personal values and hopes to provide a safe container where all parts of the self are welcome. Additionally, Chelsea is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for serving the LatinX community in the Boulder area while working to complete her Master’s degree. In her free time, she spends her time reading, writing, hiking, and spending time with her partner and dogs.
