Local Boulder Area Resources for Folks Impacted by the Government Shutdown.
As the government shutdown continues we are aware that many of our clients, neighbors, families and friends are experiencing fear and uncertainty around how to secure basic needs. We want to support by providing a list of Boulder area services that are available to furloughed workers and to folks whose services may have been impacted or reduced because of the shutdown. Three local agencies provide some or all of the following services: food assistance through their food banks, emergency rent or mortgage assistance, assistance with utility bills, medical bills or necessary medications, and case management to help navigate additional community resources. They are based on your area and details are provided below. We did call several of the agencies and they are stocked up and ready for the increased need. If you are not experiencing insecurity during this time and want to provide support all agencies are accepting donations.
The Emergency Family Assistance Association supports Boulder area residents and also folks living in the surrounding mountain regions.

Harvest of Hope will provide food assistance to anyone, no questions asked. They are in Boulder and information can be found at: https://hopepantry.org/
Other great options are local religious organizations, churches, as well as many local restaurants that are offering free meals for furloughed federal employees. We recommend a Google search to find more resources in your neighborhood.
For Pets:
Furry Family Members need support too. Many local pet shelters offer emergency or low cost services and pet supplies. Here are a few other local resources to keep your pets healthy and fed:
Colorado Pet Pantry has monthly food banks for pets and you can find dates on their calendar here: http://www.coloradopetpantry.org/events/category/pet-food-banks/. They also provide emergency support that you can access here:

We hope these resources can bring some ease during this difficult time or provide some inspiration for where to give donations if you want to support your neighbors.
